This is a mega rare upholstered Eames DCW dining chair, dating to March of 1952. It has the 5-2-4 screw pattern underneath, indicating early Herman Miller production. Its also stamped 3 52, which was how they date stamped those chairs at that time. This example is in very good to excellent vintage condition with some light wear from use and nice patina. See photos. The hardware appears to be completely original and wood is walnut. It should be noted that upholstered Eames plywood chairs are generally coveted in any condition, but to find one with seemingly intact and original upholstery is beyond unusual. This upholstery is a lovely black leather.

The chair came from a Manhattan, New York estate and has been in the collection of an architect and longtime collector of rare Eames works.

This chair measures 29.875 inches tall by 19.5 inches wide and 21.25 inches deep. The seat height is 17.5 inches.
